Educating Oz
(c) 1986 Tyne
Tees Television

In the mid-late eighties, the world hit its peak in AIDS
awareness. A massive education campaign was launched by the
government to make the public aware of this global killer.
Tyne Tees television adopted a novel approach to this. They
took two characters from TV's Auf Wiedersehen Pet and
produced a one off 25 minute programme called 'Educating
Oz'...
SYNOPSIS.
Dennis Patterson has to give a talk to 70 bricklayers,
outlining to them the dangers of the AIDS virus. He attends
a course, and afterwards goes to the local pub, to watch the
course leader give a TV interview. Unfortunately, he finds a
more than cynical Oz at the bar. Naturally Oz displays a
bigotted attitude towards the whole thing, but Dennis
decides that if he is to convince 70 brickies of the danger,
he must make Oz aware also. After much fruitless debate,
Dennis cannot get through. Perhaps a joint effort with the
good Doctor himself can rid Oz of his ignorance.
