Germany Locations

All of our
German photographs have been kindly sent to us from Edward
York.
Here we look at
the locations that were used during the ten day shoot in
Germany, both as they were then and what they now look like
today. Although set in Düsseldorf, most of the filming was
done in Hamburg. One clue to this is that most of the
vehicles have Hamburg registrations, (HH).
Our first
collection of photos show the Police station that Neville
was held in in 'The Accused'. As you can see it has been
painted magnolia since filming, but ,mostly it remains as we
all remember it. It can be found at 16 Großneumarket,
Hamburg

Here is the sex
cinema from 'Suspicion.' Although it is now two shops, and
the facade has slightly changed, when you compare the two
photographs, you can see that little else has been altered.
Sex World, 26 Steindamm Hamburg, near Hauptbahnhof.

Also from suspicion. Here is the row of shop where Wayne
bought a bracelet for Ingrid. The jewellers is now the
carpet shop on the far left of the new photo. The address is
56 Colonnaden Hamburg.

Here we have the
intercontinental hotel Hamburg, which played the part of the
Inter-Conti Düsseldorf. It has changed very little. Visitors
may also like to note that this is where the cast and crew
stayed during the ten day film shoot in Germany.

Here we have a
wonderful picture of the pub where Magowan started the riot
at the end of the first season. It is called the Uerige and
is on the corner of Flingerstrasse and Bergerstrasse in the
Altstadt in Dussledorf. And our Overseas locations manager
Ed York reccommends it!.

Here we have the
Fernsehturm in Düsseldorf, the TV tower that forms part of
the opening titles.

Here is the tram
station we saw Neville at in 'Suspicion'. It is Luegplatz
station in Düsseldorf, near on of the bridges that crosses
the Rhine.

Here is the
Rathausufer Pegeluhr (water guage clock on Rathausufer (Rathausufer
means town hall river bank)). This was where Wayne and Barry
were having a beer in 'The Alien' when Dennis turns up with
Neville's plectrum. This is a stretch of river bank on the
Rhine between the two main bridges in Düsseldorf just by the
Altstadt. Edward informs me that it's fabulous in the
summer.

This is where
Barry and Wayne parked the motorbike in 'Private lives' as
they are discussing the Wolves season ticket. The church in
the background is the St. Michaelis (most famous in Hamburg)
and the photo is taken from Grossneumarkt Hamburg.

This is a
view of the Fernsehturm (TV tower) taken along Grindelhof in
Hamburg. This is where Dagmar waited for Dennis after being
spotted at the swimming pool by Oz, Barry & Neville. The
giveaway is the cinema on the left called the Abaton. The
sign is clearly visible on the video.

Same location
again, but Bornstrasse, the street along which Dennis' taxi
appears, to see Barry talking to Dagmar.

Back to
Grossneumarkt. This is a shot from outside Thämer's bar,
where Barry and Wayne were having a beer as Barry invites
two attractive Frauleins 'back to our hut'. Check the arches
in the background and compare on screen. Second is the view
from Barry and Wayne's table.

Here is a
lengthways shot of the Rathausufer. If you watch the
sequence closely, you can see that this location was also
used when Dennis told Dagmar he was going back to England in
the last episode.
