Leonard 'Oz' Osbourne

Jimmy Nail,
since Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, has rocketted to success on
stage, screen and even silver screen. One of the earlier
films which Jimmy appeared in was 'Morons From Outer Space',
alongside Mel Smith and Griff Rhys Jones. You would be very
lucky to find a copy of this video now. His major television
successes where the ones that he was directly involved in
writing and producing. The first of these was when Jimmy
played Detective Sergeant Freddie Spender, in the BBC series
'Spender', where his character was taken from London, and
sent back to his native Newcastle as an undercover operator.
This was quite a gritty series, with a lot of strong Geordie
humor written in to it. Jimmy wrote this series with Auf
Wiedersehen, Pet writer Ian LaFreanis, and it co-starred
Sammy Johnston, who played Martin Cooper in AufPet. The next
success was 'Crocodile Shoes' (See photograph), where Jimmy
got to show off his musical talents in a series, where his
character 'Jed Shepperd' climbed the ladder from an
industrial worker, to a top pop musician. This series was
quite successful, but his second series 'Crocodile Shoes
two', was not given very good ratings by the critics.
'Crocodile Shoes two' also starred Christopher Fairbank,
'Moxey' from AufPet. Sammy Johnston also starred. Jimmy also
starred in the big budget cinema flop 'Evita' alongside
Antonio Banderas and Madonna, where he played Moroccan tango
singer Augustin Magaldi. One of his latest appearances was
alongside Timothy (Barry Taylor) Spall, in the glam rock
comedy, Still Crazy. Jimmy had already co-starred
with Tim Spall in the movies Dream Demon and
Crusoe.
