Synopsis - In a desperate effort to find work, three Georide
bricklayers, Dennis, Neville and Oz, journey to Germany
hoping for tax free wages, beautiful frauleins and cheap
beer. What they find instead is a wooden hut, and to
make matters worse, Neville must masquearade as a carpenter.

2. Who won the war anyway?

Synopsis - Oz's loud mouth and xenophobic attitude lands him
the sack, and Neville becomes the hero of the day when he
discovers an unexploded bomb from the war and just in time
manages to stop a digger from causing it to go off.

3. The girls they left behind.

Synopsis - Oz's wife, desperate to find him to get more
money, contacts Dennis' wife, and Oz accidentally returns
home with a larger than average hang over. The lads think
they have seen the last of him, so they auction his stuff
and send the money to his flat. The only trouble is that Oz
has made his way back to Düsseldorf. But as Neville says
"I'm sure your wife will find a use for it"

4. Suspicion.

Synopsis - As expensive possesions go missing from the hut
the finger gets pointed left,right and centre with everyone
suspecting each other. Dispruptions occurr between the lads,
but the real culprit is not even a resident.

5. Home thoughts from abroad.

Synopsis - Bomber's daughter runs away from home, and then
turns up at the site in Dusselldorf, only after he has
returned to Bristol to try and find her. Can the lads keep
her presence a secret from the Germans before her father
returns from home?

6. The accused.
Originally Broadcast 16-12-1983
Synopsis - Oz upsets the Germans far too much this time, and
none of them will even speak to any of the English workers.
And to make matters worse, Neville is wrongly accused of
assaulting a German girl, and it takes more than his English
friends to get him out of trouble. It is Helmut and some of
the German workers who track down the real culprits and turn
them in to the police.

7. Private lives.

Synopsis - All Dennis wants is to spend some time with his
new girlfriend Dagmar and keep it from the rest of the lads,
but Oz's practical joke on Wayne and Barry wrecks any chance
of that.

8. The fugitive.
Originally Broadcast 6-1-1984
Synopsis - When the lads go fishing in the country, they
pick up a hitchhiker who is very mysterious about his
motives, and proves more so when he runs away from the
police, when they were not after him in the first place. The
lads of course jump to the immediate conclusion that he is a
criminal, but when they find his military identity card on
the floor of the hut, they realise he has went AWOL from the
army. It turns out that he has done so because he had a
nervous breakdown when several of his friends where killed
by a bomb in Belfast when he was stationed in Northern
Ireland, and he just wanted to forget it, but the troops he
shares a billet with now will not let him forget it (ie Were
bullying him). Realising how much trouble he will be in if
he does'nt go back, the lads try persuading him to return.

9. The alien.

Synopsis - An unwelcome guest moves in to the hut. With
Bomber away, they cannot remove him by force. So how are
they going to rid themselves of MaGowan the violent Irish
nutter?

10. Last rites.

Synopsis - When a new and brief accquaintance of Dennis and
Neville dies, Oz thinks of the perfect smuggling method to
start his imported pornographic video business in England.

11. The lovers.

Synopsis - Barry, being as pedantic as he is, persuade the
lads to do up the hut, which means pinching paint from the
site. Meanwhile Oz falls in love with a German girl, making
out to be a rich tycoons son. But it seems he is not the
only one being more than slightly dishonest as Bomber
accidentally finds out.

12. Love and other four letter words.

Synopsis - When Vera, Dennis' wife comes to Germany, she
tells Dennis she wants him back. With his kids back home to
consider, how on Earth can Dennis choose between Vera and
Dagmar? Meanwhile the usual jump 'em and leave 'em Wayne
admits to Dennis that he has fallen for and is completely
smitten for site secretarial assistant Christa.

13. When the boat goes out.
Originally Braodcast 10-2-1984
Synopsis - The work on the site is just about done, and
Dennis' hideous temper is being taken out on everyone. It
takes Oz to have a serious accident to make him realise how
important his mates are. But it is while he spends one last
night with Dagmar that the hut catches fire and all the lads
come round and stay at her place, ending yet another night
of passion between Dennis and Dagmar. Not to worry though,
the lads do make it home, and we end the way we began, with
the three Geordie lads on the ferry, crossing the channel.
